On 18 October 2023, at the invitation of Professor Luc Nijs from the Institute of Musicology and the Arts, I will give a public lecture at the University of Luxembourg as part of the DESW Lectures.
In the presentation, titled Tech in my music class? Uh… – On technology integration in music teacher training, I will talk about the development of the Technology-Enhanced Music Education learning pathway in the Bachelor of Music in Education programme at ArtEZ University of the Arts Conservatorium in Enschede. I will explain our reasons for launching this pathway and clarify our choices using both theoretical frameworks and the experiences we have gathered over the years.
In particular, I will describe how my students at the ArtEZ Conservatorium in Enschede are innovating music education by applying technology or working in a technology-rich setting. I will also present examples that have emerged from our collaboration with the Wilminktheater and the Dutch National Touring Opera in Rumoer, a space for interactively exploring sound and music.
