“Can students still write essays themselves?”
That was one of the questions raised during a recent training session I delivered right before the summer holidays. In the training, I challenged a group of teacher educators to explore the real and growing impact of generative AI on assessment. The participants tested an AI on real assignments, then we discussed how current assessments hold up, and explored AI-proof alternatives.
Based on this training, I’ve now developed a dedicated version for other schools, colleges and universities—and it’s available now.
Why this training, and why now?
AI is not something that’s ‘coming soon’—it’s already being used in education. Students use tools like ChatGPT to complete assignments, generate ideas, and sometimes even to write entire essays.
For educators, this raises urgent questions:
- How can we ensure fairness and academic integrity?
- What kinds of assessments are vulnerable to AI?
- How do we help both staff and students become more AI-literate?
- And how do we move from confusion or resistance to informed policy?
Successful integration of AI into education requires more than technical know-how. It demands critical thinking, shared reflection, and a basic understanding of technology acceptance—how people adopt and relate to new tools.
This training helps teams take that step.
