SUMMARY:Workshop - Music Education and Technology: Opportunities and Challenges
DESCRIPTION:Together with Bert van Uffelen (Hogeschool Rotterdam)\, I will deliver a workshop at the Music Education Conference 2026 of the Dutch music teacher association – the leading event for ambitious music teachers in education across the Netherlands and Flanders. \nAbout the workshop: \nTechnology is playing an increasingly important role in music education. Digital literacy\, arts and culture\, and technology come together in the new attainment targets\, while concepts from electronic music and digital production now have a permanent place in examination programmes. \nIn this interactive session\, you will explore in a playful way what this means for your music lessons in primary and secondary education. Through concrete examples\, you will experience how digital music technology and AI can contribute to creativity\, composition and music-making in the classroom. \nAt the same time\, there will be space for discussion: what opportunities and challenges do you see in enriching your music lessons with technology? You will leave with inspiration as well as ideas that you can directly apply in your own teaching practice. \nOver de workshop (in Dutch): \nTechnologie speelt een steeds grotere rol in het muziekonderwijs. Digitale geletterdheid\, kunst & cultuur en technologie komen samen in de nieuwe kerndoelen\, terwijl begrippen uit de elektronische muziek en het digitaal produceren inmiddels een vaste plek hebben in examenprogramma’s. In deze interactieve sessie verken je op speelse wijze wat dit betekent voor jouw muzieklessen in het po en vo. Aan de hand van concrete voorbeelden ervaar je hoe digitale muziektechnologie en AI kunnen bijdragen aan creativiteit\, componeren en musiceren in de klas. Tegelijk is er ruimte voor gesprek: welke kansen en uitdagingen zie jij voor het verrijken van jouw muzieklessen door technologie? Je gaat naar huis met inspiratie én met ideeën die je direct kunt vertalen naar je eigen lespraktijk.
