Together with Luc Nijs, I co-authored a chapter in the new book Beweging in muziekpedagogiek: 10 jaar onderzoek en ontwikkeling (“Movement in Music Pedagogy: 10 Years of Research and Development”). Over the past decade, the book series Muziekpedagogiek in beweging has described various developments in music education. This latest volume looks back on these topics and also looks ahead.

In Technologie in het muziekonderwijs op een kruispunt (“Technology in Music Education at a Crossroads”), the third chapter of the book, Luc and I focus on technology in music education. We reflect on the opportunities technology offers in supporting pupils in their musical and artistic development, as well as teachers in their role in that process. In addition, we present four perspectives that can help advance the implementation of technology in music education.

Beweging in muziekpedagogiek: 10 jaar onderzoek en ontwikkeling was edited by Thomas De Baets and Adri de Vugt, and is published by Euprint ed. In addition to Luc and myself, the following authors contributed to the book: Melissa Bremmer, Filip Verneert, Thomas Geudens, Suzan Overmeer, Mieke Van Uytvanck, Marjolein Wagemans, Christiane Nieuwmeijer, Tine Castelein, and Simon Van Damme.

The book presentation will take place on Tuesday 6 June 2023 at the Royal Conservatoire, AMARE, with an introduction by Piet Hagenaars (former director of art museums, higher arts education, and national knowledge centres for cultural education; researcher of cultural education policy).
