Using Effects (FX) in BandLab

BandLab makes it easy to shape your sound using built-in FX plug-ins. These include essentials like EQ, reverb, delay, and compression. In this guide, you’ll learn how to apply effects and control them across tracks in your project.

Adding FX to a Track

1. To add an effect (FX), click “+ Fx” on the desired track to open the Fx Effects panel at the bottom of the screen.
2. Then, to add an effect click “+ Add Effect”.
3. Select effects from the list: Reverb, EQ, Delay, Compression, and more.
4. To add an Fx preset (pre-made combination of effects), click “None v” and select from the list.
5. To turn off all effects, click “Fx”.

Controlling FX Parameters

Each effect comes with adjustable settings. For example:

• EQ: Boost or cut low, mid and high frequencies.
• Reverb: Adjust size of the virtual space.
• Delay: Control feedback and timing.
• Compressor: Set threshold and ratio to control dynamics.

Tips for Clean Mixing

• Use EQ to carve space for each instrument.
• Use a short reverb on vocals to create presence, and longer reverb on pads or guitars for atmosphere.

Tip: Less is more — apply FX with intention and always trust your ears.
